DOING IT THE DOERS vol. 1

April 25 was a big day for HOWDO – We had WHERON come over to kick off a new monthly event series, The Doers. Wheron, a Dallas-based artist collective, painted a mural in familiar Wheron fashion, while creatives, entrepreneurs, and just interested Dallas folk came together to connect, chat and marvel as Will Heron, Jorge Alcala and Sarah Duke covered one of HOWDO’s sprawling white walls.

For about two hours, guests came and went, shopped the Wheron merch popup, networked with a beer and snacked on fresh BBQ from the chef and owner of State & Allen and Savory Catering, who kindly donated their time and grub to the cause. (P.S. each of The Doers events are free.)

If you’re not familiar, Wheron is a street artist team who set up shop at The Platform, a street art gallery for not only Wheron, but for other Dallas artists to work and show.

Proponents of temporary art, Wheron sees the value of street art in Dallas – For a full rundown on these guys, check out Doing It’s Q&A with Will

As we get ready for next month’s The Doers, we’re still reflecting on vol. 1. HOWDO is a space for people to come together, think bigger, think differently, but most importantly, leave inspired.

It came with a permanent smile and a subtle nudge to make your next move bigger than the last.

There was something in the air as we locked the doors on that Tuesday evening – and the only way I can describe it is inspired. It came with a permanent smile and a subtle nudge to make your next move bigger than the last. Mission accomplished, The Doers!

Check out our timelapse of Wheron at work, ending with their final product.
