How to HOWDO: Finding Inspiration in Your Creative Space
Inspiration can come in many forms, and what inspires you might not inspire the person next to you, but one factor that makes a difference for just about everyone is where you go to do your big thinking. It’s a spot that gets your creative juices flowing, whatever your project might be. That could be the beach, the mountains, a bustling coffee shop, or a quiet room in your own home. More often than not, though, you’ll gravitate toward somewhere that feels welcoming, light and open, (almost) distraction-less, and equipped with amenities that keep you on track like bottomless coffee and good music.
Let’s take a step back, though, and think about what happens in your inspiration space. What really is inspiration? Webster says it’s “the process of being mentally stimulated to do or feel something, especially to do something creative.” Well that’s basically the root of HOWDO and why it came to be. HOWDO is the process. HOWDO was designed to encourage creative thinking, especially among groups, both traditional creative and the professional.
Not to get all scientific, but research has shown face-to-face interaction and (seemingly unplanned) conversations around a strategically placed Keurig produce the most creative ideas. It’s all about increasing the likelihood of interaction without feeling the pressure of a conference room or banquet hall. With that interaction comes inspiration and that’s what you need in a space where ideas are born.
So, what it comes down to is finding a space that inspires you to think bigger. In HOWDO, we did everything we could to make it feel comfortable; utilizing design to strategically get you thinking differently. From white walls for a clear head, couches for comfort, blank dry-erase boards that span an entire wall to a full kitchen for gathering around and connecting in a new way, HOWDO was designed to inspire you. HOWDO is your inspiration.
